Tips for AC Maintenance
- Change the air filter
- Believe it or not, dirty air filters are responsible for many air conditioning problems. Dirty filters obstruct air flow making your system work harder and longer. When the system works harder, it decreases its lifespan and can cause costly repairs. We recommend you purchase inexpensive filters and change them once a month. If you have pets, it may be necessary to change them more often.
- Clear out the area around the condenser or package system
- Your AC system needs fresh air to flow freely into the system to function properly and efficiently. It's important to keep the area around it free of obstacles, plants, vegetation, and debris that will obstruct air flow. When mowing and weed whacking, make sure the grass is blowing away from the AC unit.
- Check your drain line
- AC systems drain excess moisture which causes algae to build and and form clogs. You can save money by flushing the drain line with hot water to keep it flowing freely. If the line does have a blockage, you can use a wet/dry vacuum to remove the obstruction.
